The Woman In Black

"In spite of my intense fear and sense of shock, I was consumed with the desire to find out exactly who it was that I had seen, and how, I could not rest until I had settled the business, for all that, while out there, I had not dared to stay and make any investigations.”

We went to see The Woman In Black at the local theatre last night, and it was good. I've been obsessed with the idea of going since reading the book for the first time last year, and it definitely didn't disappoint. The gin bramble Luke bought for me at a nearby bar afterwards didn't either, but that's a story for another day. Now, in case you haven't seen  this show and are planning to (it being Halloween month and all) I won't go into detail about it. But I will say this: it is much better than the movie, it follows the book very closely, and the ending is absolutely brilliant. The 'surprise'? (if you've seen it you know what I'm saying) chilled me. I really really recommend it, although if you have bad nerves and/or get easily frightened, you should prepare yourself for terror related heart failure. Seriously.

Tonight I plan to settle in to a coconutty bubble bath, drink some tea, have take out curry and re-read my copy of The Woman In Black before passing out in a heap on the sofa. This week was my first at my (brilliant) new job, and I am absolutely exhausted.

Have an amazing weekend x

    1. The film is completely different to the book and play, but just as scary.. made if you wait until summer and then read it on the beach it won't be as eerie ;) x

  9. Hahahah! For my best friend's 21st birthday, as part of her present, her parent's paid for us to go and see this in London. This was last December, and I swear to god, I still get nightmares haha. I haven't read the book, or seen the film, but the play is SO scary. And the surprise :|

I'm glad you're loving your new job, long may it continue xxx

  10. I think that stage shows and musicals and the what not tend to be more true to the original works. The Phantom of The Opera stage show is a lot closer too. It's a dream of mine to see that on the stage.

    1. Oh I'd love to see the phantom of the opera, I bet it's amazing! I saw a ballet production of Romeo and Juliet once and it was very moving, I'd love to see swan lake at some point
