Trying to impress with home made meals that always go wrong
Using his legs as a hot water bottle when your feet are cold in bed
Borrowing his coat when yours just isn't cutting it
Foot rubs
Cups of tea on the sofa whilst watching Celebrity Juice/Homeland/Fresh meat etc etc
Discussing the lives of mutual friends (don't pretend you don't do it!)
Bonding over a mutual love of cats
Do nothing days when we feast like kings and dress like slobs
What else? Trying new things to make each other happy (I go to football games, he goes to the theatre and girly films), getting smug when the cats choose one person over the other, texting each other (funny) insults to try and get a laugh when we're out with friends, making an effort with each others families, shopping for houses and holidays, inside jokes and small kindnesses - things like adding a bunch of roses to the shopping basket, handing over the last biscuit and buying his favourite body wash in Lush because I'm bad at budgeting and he doesn't like spending £8 on shower gel. The list could go on..

Things like these are what makes it so strangely wonderful to have a partner. Loved this little charming post, really wish I had a boyfriend now though!

Well I'm going to have to bond over a mutual love of kitties and I am very smug internally when my cats choose me over other people. The downside is I get moody and jealous when they choose someone else.
ReplyDeleteLove this!

What a good man. I would never drag my husband to a girly movie because I know he would complain the whole time!
ReplyDeleteOh this post did make my heart sad a little...but so cute and true! I need a new bf for winter STAT x
ReplyDelete"Borrowing his coat when yours just isn't cutting it"- switch 'coat' for his clothes generally, and this is definitely me haha- the boy's got too many nice jumpers, t-shirts and cardies, and his boxers make excellent pyjama shorts... I've even got a jumper of his dad's that I wear.
ReplyDeleteDo nothing days and small kindnesses are my favourite (: xx
You're a lovely girlfriend xx
ReplyDeleteWhy are boys' legs always so warm? I do this practically every night now it's got chilly. What day is Fresh Meat on? I've missed the first episode already. I can't miss any more!

yes! all of this. especially using his legs as a heater and then the rest of it all. relationships are the best.
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh, smile, and nod in agreement. I am guilty of all of these things. Other than the mutual love of cats... He tolerates my cat (but he's learning to love him!)
ReplyDeleteWe are definitely guilty of talking about mutual friends relationships, although it is usually me that brings it up! And my meals always go wrong.... I'm always telling him "I swear that I can actually cook and I'm good!"
