Q+A Numero Deux (Random & Relationship)

If you had to choose one super power what would it be and why?
I would choose the power of invisibility so I could be a super spy and the best hider if we played hide and seek. I was also going to say 'so I could take things without people making me pay' but that would be stealing, so I won't say that. But we both know I was thinking it. (And we both know you were thinking it too)

Would you rather fight: 1 horse sized duck, or 6 duck sized horses?
I would rather fight 1 horse sized duck. Ducks are pretty laid back, so I think he'd (assuming it's a boy duck) give up fighting pretty fast if I did something nice like chuck food at him or pat him on the head, while horses can get quite uncontrollable when they're angry, and could really hurt me.

Sure the duck could probably kill me with his giant wings, but my Grandad had pet ducks when I was growing up and they loved me, so I think I could take him. I don't even think we'd get to the point of fighting, I think we'd just hug it out and move on.

Hugh Jackman or Hugh Grant? Colin Farrell or Colin Firth?
Hugh Grant in his Notting Hill days because he was hopeless and bumbly and I have a soft spot for hopeless bumbly men. Colin Firth in Bridget Jones because he looked dang fine and liked Bridget just the way she was, which was sweet because Bridget is a fruit basket. Would also take him in his 'The Kings Speech' days, because stuttering makes me melt. I love a stutterer, they always seem so adorable and vulnerable and I sound like a total weirdo right now don't I? Luke used to stutter. He doesn't any more (sad face)

I don't like bad boys, they're overrated.

What's your favorite place you've been on vacation?? And do you have photos?
Paris. We went this year and it was exhausting but amazing. I have lots of pictures, which can be found by *clicking here.*

Yours and Luke's story? Fave book BOOK REVIEW?
We met when we were 16 and were friends through college, break ups, dodgy relationships, my Hollyoaks addiction, leaky student homes, strange teachers, university library midnight 'studying,' university bar crawl drinking, scary horror movie cinema visits, late night singstar sessions (we do an amazing rendition of 'Torn'), everything. We dated briefly when we were 18 but it didn't work out. We started dating for real when we were 20 and now, 3 cats, 2 fish and a rabbit later, here we are. He's been one of my best friends for 7 years, we've had some very good times (and some weird ones, like going to his ex girlfriends wedding - a nasty little side effect of knowing all the same people.)

My favourite book is One Day by David Nicholls. I love this book because it makes me laugh a hundred times, it makes me ball my eyes out twice, and it is just very sweet and touching and moving and I love it. I also love the movie, which also makes me cry on two separate occasions. Oh Em & Dex, you beautiful b*****ds you!

Do you and Luke have any plans to get engaged/ married and start a family?
Not currently, though we do have plans to buy a house next year. We are both quite career focussed at the moment so marriage isn't high on our list, and babies definitely aren't. But (assuming we stay together) it will happen one day. On a side note, I really like the names Cora and Toby for babies. Adorable.

How did you decide on the names Charlie and Colbie? Can you drive? Dream date? Favourite actor/actress? If you could travel to any country in the world free of charge, where would you go?
Colbie was named after a singer I liked at the time of getting her and Charlie came pre-named. I have no idea what we would have called him if we'd had the chance, but Charlie probably wouldn't have been on the list since Luke's mum had a tabby called Charlie at the time, my family dog when I was small was named Charlie,  and Charlie is of course short for Charlotte so there's a risk of people thinking I named my male cat after myself. Which is awkward.

I can't drive. I tried to drive for around a year, but am too nervous on the roads. I would shake and get worked up and panic if someone crossed the road when I didn't expect them to. It just wasn't for me.

Dream date would be doing something lazy, somewhere cold, with lots of hot chocolate and food and laughter.

Favourite actor is probably Will Smith, I always get excited when he makes a new movie. Favourite actress is Natalie Portman because she is very versatile. Didn't like Black Swan though, Black Swan scares the bejesus out of me.

If I could travel anywhere free of charge I would go to America, and because it was free of charge I would see everything and go everywhere. I've been a few times to different places and I love it. If I was offered the chance, I'd move there in a heartbeat.

On a side note, my big Autumn/Winter giveaway ended today, which I didn't realise was happening until about 3'o'clock this afternoon. Really need to start writing these things down. Anyway, the winner is.... Daisy from Daisycakes!

I'm off for a stress relief/sleep easy bubble bath mash up (if I relax myself to death, it was nice knowing you) to watch 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' and to read my book. Before you start to feel sorry for Luke, he's out playing snooker tonight, so I'm living the life of a singleton for the evening.

Cheerio!

  3. I had a super nice time reading your answers (the questions were pretty good too). You made me laugh and just love your love story. And I really think you should write, you are speaking of Bridget Jones (one of my favorite girlie movie ever) and I think you have «that» spirit (undefined) in your words, just lovely, I would read on and on!

  5. What a fun bunch of questions! It is pretty common for people over there not to drive, isn't it? How do you get around? What about grocery shopping? I have always wondered how that actually worked.

BTW, what is your favorite place in the US?

    1. I think the majority of people do drive, but it's definitely not rare to not have a car :) I live right near the city, so everything I need (work, friends, family) is only between 10 and 30 minutes away by bus. If I'm going any further there are trains pretty often and nowhere takes more than a few hours to get to because England is pretty small and we live right in the middle of the country!

For grocery shopping there are two small supermarkets within a 10 minute walk from my house, or if we do a big shop we have it delivered to our door!

I'd love to visit NYC, but so far the best place I have been in the US was Lake Tahoe at Christmas time. It was stunning xx

  11. SMOOCHIE SMOOCHIE (my Mama impression)

I like Colbie's Bubbly too, reminds me of the Lake District (I discovered it while there). Your story is basically Dex and Em (from what I pick up from this very short blog extract) maybe that is why it is your favourite book? I love it too, I was so frustrated all the way through - sign of a good read. This makes me excited for our christmas meet up. xxxx

    1. Yeah I always thought we were like that, I think that's why I connected with it.. though I REALLY hope I don't get smooshed by a bus. I'm so excited to meet you, I can't believe I have your mobile number now and everything. I just really hope you don't turn out to be a pervy old man that lives in his basement and preys on young(ish) girls on the internet, that would be way inconvenient x

  13. I love these! SO many of your answers I totally concur with! Bad boys ARE overrated, Black Swan was totally disturbing and if you felt so inclined to come to America, that would rock. :)
